Integrative Play Therapy

This method of therapy is one of Michelle’s favorites. While children may start off with some hesitation, children quickly love spending one on one time with Michelle. Play Therapy is a highly effective method of meeting and responding to the mental health needs of children and is extensively acknowledged by experts as a preferred intervention in dealing with a child’s brain development.

It is the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein Michelle will use the therapeutic powers of play to help a client prevent or resolve psychological difficulty and achieve optimal growth and development.

Benefits: Children often cannot process their own emotions and articulate problems to parents or other adults. The play therapy process provides insight into a child’s problems, to explore emotions and deal with unresolved trauma. Through this modality, children can learn new coping mechanism and how to redirect inappropriate behaviors.  Play therapy also encourages the use of language and improved fine and gross motor skills and is often used in conjunction with other therapies.
